PRIVACY POLICY
Last Modified: March 7, 2026
Welcome to the IRIS Privacy Policy. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.
The IRIS Service is comprised of both an App and a Website (collectively, the “Service”). This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use the Service and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information. This policy also describes how we might use your information to contact you and what options you have regarding the personal information you provide us.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use, Safety Policy, and Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) Policy, all of which are incorporated by reference and govern your use of the Service.
What Does This Policy Cover?
This policy applies to the Service the Company provides. Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Service. By accessing or using this Service, you agree to this privacy policy. This policy may change from time to time (see “Changes in Our Privacy Policy”). Your continued use of this Service after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates.
Children Under the Age of 18
The App is not intended for children under 18 years of age. No one under age 18 may provide any personal information to or on the Service. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 18 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 18, please contact us at support@irisdating.com.
Information We Collect and How We Collect It
We collect information from and about users of our Service:
Directly from you when you provide it.
Automatically when you use the Service.
From third-party sources, including social media platforms.
Information You Provide to Us
When you use our Service, we may ask you to provide information:
By which you may be personally identified, such as name, email address, postal address, telephone number, payment information, or other identifiers.
That is about you but individually does not identify you, such as demographic information, interests, or preferences.
Profile information, including a real-time photo of your face for verification and matching purposes.
Chat messages and interactions with other users.
Facial Data Collection and Use
Why We Collect Face Data
IRIS uses real-time selfie verification to confirm user authenticity, prevent fake accounts, and block repeat abusers. This data is essential to maintaining a safe and trusted user environment and may also be used to cooperate with lawful investigations.
As part of our matching experience, IRIS’s technology analyzes submitted photos to extract a set of numerical data points that represent relative facial features. These data points are used to generate attractiveness signals that inform how profiles are surfaced to other members. Importantly, these are abstract numerical values derived from facial geometry — they cannot be used to reconstruct, identify, or re-create a person’s face. This is categorically different from biometric face templates or full facial recognition systems that store a complete geometric map of a person’s facial structure. IRIS does not collect or store biometric identifiers as that term is commonly understood under applicable biometric privacy laws.
How Long We Store Face Data
Facial data and derived data points are retained for the duration of the user’s account and for up to one year following account deletion, unless the user submits a verified request for earlier deletion.
Do We Share Face Data?
IRIS does not share facial data or derived facial data points with any third parties. All facial processing is performed internally by IRIS. No third-party SDKs, vendors, or processors handle this data on our behalf. We are proud to maintain full internal control over this sensitive information.
Automatic Data Collection Technologies
We may use technologies like cookies, web beacons, and mobile device identifiers to collect:
Usage Details: Logs, traffic data, and resources accessed.
Device Information: Device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
Location Information: Real-time location data.
You can manage these technologies through your device or browser settings. Note that disabling them may limit some features of the Service.
AI Bio Enhancement (Optional)
If you choose to use our AI Bio Enhancement feature, we share only (1) the bio text you submit and (2) the interests you select in the app (e.g., biking, climbing, wine tasting) with OpenAI to generate suggested edits to your profile description. We do not send other profile or account information for this feature.
We send this information only after you opt in by tapping “Copy to bio & edit” and confirming. You can use the app without this feature. We do not retain logs of your AI requests or OpenAI’s responses.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect about you to:
Provide and manage your account.
Facilitate interactions and matches with other users.
Improve and personalize the Service.
Communicate updates, including policy changes or service disruptions.
Comply with legal obligations.
Disclosure of Your Information
We may disclose personal information:
To contractors, service providers, and affiliates who support our operations.
During business transfers, such as mergers or acquisitions.
To comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.
We may also share aggregated or anonymized data that does not identify any individual without restriction.
Data Security
We have implemented security measures to protect your personal information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.
Your Choices About Your Information
You have the right to:
Access and correct your information by logging into your account.
Delete your account, which removes your data following a one-year safety retention period.
Opt-out of marketing communications.
Control location data collection through your device settings.
Cross-Border Transfers
The IRIS Service is intended for use by residents of the United States and North America. If you are located outside of these regions, please be aware that the Service is not directed at you.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (“EEA”) and nonetheless choose to access and use the Service, any personal information you provide will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. By choosing to use the Service, you acknowledge that such transfer is necessary for the performance of the service you have requested, and that IRIS is not in a position to guarantee EEA-equivalent protections for data processed in connection with your use. We encourage EEA residents to consider this before using the Service.
Data Subject Rights
For EEA residents who nonetheless use the Service, IRIS will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the rights provided under Chapter 3 of the GDPR, including the right to be informed, the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object, and rights in relation to automated decision-making and profiling. However, as the Service is not directed at EEA residents, IRIS cannot guarantee full GDPR compliance in all circumstances. EEA residents with privacy concerns are encouraged to contact us at support@irisdating.com.
State Privacy Rights
Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah have specific rights regarding their personal information under applicable state privacy laws. These include:
Right to Access: You have the right to request details about the personal information we have collected about you, including the categories of information and the purposes for which it is used.
Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccuracies in your personal information.

To exercise these rights, please visit your account settings in the App or contact us at support@irisdating.com. We will verify your identity before processing your request.
